Earlier today, Rugby School Japan, officially announced the formation of a strategic partnership with Blues Rugby, the reigning Super Rugby Pacific Champions 2024. This collaboration marks the start of an exciting relationship which will provide a range of opportunities for RSJ pupils to develop their sports and leadership skills, supported by Blues’ rugby and development coaches.
The first phase of this partnership will be marked by the launch of a jointly-run summer programme: The Blues Global Rugby Academy, which will take place at our Kashiwanoha campus from 28th July to 1st August 2025.
And to celebrate this exciting news, RSJ and Harrow Appi pupils will have the opportunity to meet 3 special Blues Rugby guests at this Saturday’s Derby Day:

Angus Ta’avaoRespected for being a level-headed and grounded player, Ta’avao has achieved enormous success as an influential player in the New Zealand All Blacks team, as well as representing the Blues, Chiefs, and the Waratahs in Australia. |
Bryce HeemAs Blues winger, Bryce Heem is celebrated for his ability to score tries and “eat metres for fun”. As well as being hugely respected for his calming influence on the team, Bryce is an enthusiastic sounding board and mentor to younger players. |
Our Blues guests will be present pitch-side during Junior and Senior rugby games, as well as participating in a sport and leadership panel discussion, plus pupil-led Q&A session from 2.30pm.
This promises to be a fantastic event and a fitting way to celebrate Rugby School Japan and Blues Rugby’s exciting new partnership.
