Rugby School Japan is delighted to celebrate an exceptional set of A Level results for its Year 13 pupils.
This year, 28% of all grades were awarded at A*, 68% at A* to A, and 86% at A* to B, reflecting the ambition, determination and commitment shown by pupils throughout their studies.
The results also reflect the dedication of the teachers, tutors, House staff and many others across the School who have supported pupils throughout their time at RSJ. The close relationships between pupils and staff are central to a Rugby education, combining high academic expectations with the care, encouragement and individual support that help young people to thrive.
Behind the headline figures are a number of outstanding individual achievements. Every pupil applying to a UK university has secured a place at one of their selected universities, with RSJ leavers now preparing to take the next step in their education both in the UK and beyond.
That readiness for what comes next lies at the heart of Rugby School’s Whole Person Whole Point philosophy. Academic achievement matters enormously, but a Rugby education has always sought to prepare young people for more than examinations alone.
Through opportunities in leadership, sport, the arts, service, boarding and the wider life of the School, pupils are encouraged to develop the confidence, independence, curiosity and character they will need to succeed at university and beyond.
For Rugby School Japan, this year’s results are particularly significant. Many of the pupils graduating this summer joined RSJ when the School itself was still brand new. As some of its earliest pupils, they have played an important role in shaping the community, culture and traditions that continue to develop across the School today.
Sarah Wade, Principal of Rugby School Japan, said:
“It is a privilege to begin my time as Principal of Rugby School Japan by celebrating an exceptional set of A-Level results.
“With 28% of grades awarded at A*, 68% at A*–A and 86% at A*–B, these outcomes reflect the academic ambition, commitment and determination of our pupils, alongside the expertise and dedication of the staff who have supported and encouraged them throughout their time at RSJ.
“These results are a tremendous achievement for the whole RSJ community and reflect the high expectations and strong relationships that underpin a Rugby education.
“As I begin my own journey at Rugby School Japan, many of these young people are preparing to begin theirs beyond the School. I congratulate them on all they have achieved and wish each of them every success and happiness for the future. I have no doubt they will continue to make the RSJ community proud.”
The results mark an important milestone for both the pupils and the School, and offer a compelling example of what Whole Person Whole Point looks like in practice: young people leaving RSJ with strong academic foundations, but also with the confidence, independence and breadth of experience to make the most of the opportunities ahead.
