We are incredibly proud to share that Rugby School Japan has officially been recognised as the 25th accredited member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and has been awarded “Beacon School Status” for Student Welfare. This is a significant milestone in our young history and a testament to the dedication, passion, and hard work of our students, staff, and the wider Rugby School Japan community.
What Does This Recognition Mean for Us?
After opening our doors in September 2023, Rugby School Japan has sought to deliver the highest academic standards, whilst also prioritising character development, and student well-being. This recognition by COBIS, an internationally respected organisation for British international schools, affirms our commitment to providing the highest standard of care for our pupils. To be one of just 25 schools worldwide to achieve this accreditation is a great honour, and it reinforces our position as a leading educational institution not only in Japan but in the global school community.
Furthermore, the award of Beacon School Status in the area of Student Welfare is particularly meaningful to us. This distinction highlights the safe and supportive environment we have created, by providing a pastoral structure that meets the needs of all students and promotes their personal development. We are only the second international school in Japan to receive Beacon Status. The first being our sister school, Phoenix House International School, which achieved this recognition in 2023. Together, these accolades signal our positive ethos and our dedication to ensuring our pupils are happy, well cared-for, and confident to speak out about their worries and concerns.
