What is Personalised Learning?

At our school, Personalised Learning (PL) is all about helping every child thrive at RSJ. The PL team has two branches: PL SEND and PL EAL.

  • PL SEND supports students who may find learning more challenging for a range of reasons, from anxiety to attention differences.
  • PL EAL supports students who are learning English as an additional language.

Our aim is always inclusion, not exclusion. We help students build confidence, keep up with their learning, and enjoy school life fully. We work closely with teachers to make lessons more accessible, and we run small-group or 1:1 sessions where needed.

Many successful people, including scientists, artists, and even Olympic athletes, had learning differences. Albert Einstein is said to have experienced ADHD, dyslexia, and autism traits; Pablo Picasso struggled with what his school called “reading blindness”; and Walt Disney, Tom Cruise, and Keira Knightley have all spoken openly about dyslexia.

Other notable individuals include Daniel Radcliffe, who has dyspraxia (also referred to as Developmental Co-ordination Disorder), and Olympic champion Michael Phelps, who has ADHD. Their experiences serve as a reminder that, with appropriate support, children can not only overcome obstacles but also thrive and attain remarkable success.
