A Day in the Life of a Busy Boarder

The concept of boarding is foreign to Japan. Before we joined RSJ, many of us had limited knowledge of what to expect from boarding life. As two boarders, we can confidently say that entering the world of the boarding house is like embarking on a journey of self-discovery, independence, and lifelong friendships. It is a place where pupils from diverse backgrounds come together under one roof to experience personal growth. Here are just some of the highlights of boarding life here at RSJ:

Before breakfast: before breakfast, some pupils enjoy football on the tremendous Web Ellis Field!

Assemblies: motivational and insightful speeches delivered by our wonderful teachers, accompanied by beautiful pieces of music.

Tutor time: an opportunity to check in with our tutors and bond with fellow tutees.

Break times: lately, everyone has been obsessed with making toast! Snacks disappear in no time without us even noticing!

Lunch times: as soon as period five is over, we dash to the dining hall which is full of mouth-watering aromas that whet our appetites!

Drop-ins: a chance to ask the teacher about things we didn’t understand in class and get help with Prep!

Sports: everyone is keen to play their selective sports: tennis, tag rugby or swimming!

Prep time: dedicated time to strengthen our skills. When we are focused, time passes in the blink of an eye!

Table tennis: whenever we have some free time, we head to play a friendly table tennis match!
