Among the many highlights of our summer camp experience, few moments sparked as much excitement and curiosity as our off-campus field trips. Across three unforgettable excursions, campers explored the world of food science, digital art, and emerging technologies, deepening their understanding of sustainability, creativity, and the rapidly evolving world around them.
Our first adventure took us to Glico Pia East, where pupils discovered the science and innovation behind some of Japan’s most iconic treats. From watching Pocky being produced to creating their own ice cream delights, campers gained insight into the world of food manufacturing, packaging, and quality control. Interactive exhibits and factory tours helped connect fun with food science, and left everyone with sweet memories.
Next, we stepped into the future at Miraikan: The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. Designed to make complex topics accessible and thought-provoking, Miraikan’s hands-on exhibits sparked lively discussions about space, robotics, sustainability, and the ethical questions posed by fast-moving technologies. Pupils explored everything from humanoid robots to the mysteries of the universe, making science feel personal, dynamic, and full of possibility.
Finally, the week concluded with a truly immersive experience at teamLab Planets Tokyo, a one-of-a-kind art installation that merges the digital and natural worlds. Walking barefoot through water, navigating mirrored spaces, and interacting with light-based art, pupils experienced creativity in its most immersive form. The visit encouraged wonder, reflection, and sensory exploration – proving that learning can be as beautiful as it is meaningful.
Together, these excursions offered campers the chance to see how knowledge and creativity intersect in the real world. Whether through the lens of a microscope or a light sculpture, each trip was a reminder that learning extends far beyond the walls of the classroom.
