We are very pleased to share some outstanding early university news from our Year 13 cohort. Of the early acceptances received so far, three pupils have already received offers from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Their achievement deserves special recognition and celebration across our community.
Oxford and Cambridge, commonly referred to as “Oxbridge”, represent two of the most prestigious and esteemed universities in the world. Both universities attract exceptional applicants from across the globe due to their rigorous academic standards, distinctive collegiate systems, and highly personalised teaching. Not only does it require outstanding academic results to secure a place at these esteemed institutions, Oxbridge admissions teams also look for a genuine passion for the subject and the ability to think critically under pressure.
With tens of thousands of highly able students applying for a limited number of places each year, acceptance rates are typically around 15 to 20 percent and even lower for certain subjects. In this regard, it is a remarkable accomplishment for three pupils from a cohort of just 15 to receive Oxbridge offers.
The offers span a wide range of disciplines, including Materials Science at Oxford, and Mathematics and English at Cambridge. Together, they reflect both the academic depth and intellectual curiosity of our Year 13 pupils, as well as the breadth of ambition within the cohort and academic staff.
As their university journey continues, these early offers mark an important milestone for the Class of 2026 and Rugby School Japan as a whole. We are immensely proud of our pupils’ dedication, resilience, and love of learning, and we look forward to celebrating many more successes as the year unfolds.
