Create, Perform & Imagine

Creative & Performing Arts

Creativity flourished throughout the week as campers explored the visual and performing arts through a series of imaginative, hands-on experiences. Through storytelling, performance, design and music, each activity encouraged pupils to express themselves, work collaboratively, and discover the confidence that comes from bringing their ideas to life.

In Drama, students worked together to script and perform their own space-themed news broadcasts, building confidence through teamwork and performance. Creative Arts challenged participants to design persuasive holiday brochures for fictional planets, combining illustration with creative writing to produce colourful and imaginative travel campaigns.

Campers also stepped into the role of aerospace engineers during their Design session. Working in teams, each pupil took responsibility for a different part of a model rocket, from the nose cone and fins to the exterior design. Using recycled materials, they combined their ideas to build a complete rocket before putting it to the test in an exciting launch, discovering first-hand the importance of collaboration, creativity, and thoughtful design.

The week concluded on a musical note as campers came together as a choir to perform David Bowie’s Starman during the Closing Ceremony. After just a few rehearsals learning the foundations of ensemble singing, the performance celebrated not only their musical progress but also the friendships and confidence they had built throughout the week.

The arts encouraged campers to imagine boldly, communicate creatively, and celebrate the joy of making something together. This reflects an important part of the Whole Person education that lies at the heart of life at RSJ.
