Last academic year brought a number of important milestones for RSJ, as our pupils celebrated strong IGCSE and A Level results and took their next steps beyond the school. We are proud of what our pupils have achieved and excited to see where their journeys take them next.
IGCSE Results
After two years of hard work, our Year 11 pupils achieved:
30% of grades awarded at A* / 9–8
58% of grades awarded at A*–A / 9–7
As these pupils begin their Sixth Form journey this academic year, we look forward to seeing them build on these foundations, deepen their interests and take on new challenges.
A Level Results
For our Class of 2026, two years of dedication culminated in an impressive set of A Level results:
28% of all grades awarded at A*
68% of all grades awarded at A–A*
We are equally proud to see our Year 13 pupils progress to a range of exciting university destinations, reflecting the individual interests, strengths and ambitions they have developed during their time at RSJ.
Looking Ahead
With another year of achievement behind us, we are now looking towards the milestones still to come.
We spoke to members of staff who supported the Class of 2026 to hear what made them particularly proud of this cohort, as well as what they are most looking forward to as our current pupils work towards their own next steps.
Here is what they had to say:
Chuke Dharmawardhane – Head of Chemistry
We had some fantastic IGCSE and A Level results in chemistry. I was incredibly proud of our A-level cohort for achieving all A*s and As which is a remarkable achievement. Their results are a testament to their hard work and genuine enthusiasm for the subject: this was a group that took advantage of every opportunity made available to them, from Olympiads to lab tours to lectures from visiting speakers. They have left very big shoes to fill for our future pupils! At IGCSE, we had phenomenal success with a 82% A*/A rate. I’m grateful to the pupils but also our staff who go above and beyond to ensure our pupils can achieve the best possible outcomes.
This year, I’m excited to be supporting a larger cohort of pupils with achieving similar success. We have a number of pupils who are interested in pursuing chemistry-related degrees, which is fantastic, and growing numbers of pupils taking the subject at A Level. Our goal continues to be to inspire pupils to engage with the subject both in and out of the classroom, and I look forward to inviting pupils to take part in a number of competitions and developing the department’s links to local universities and organisations.
Axel Removille – Assistant Principal (Pupil Progression & Pathways)
What I’m proudest of isn’t just the headline numbers, though they were genuinely outstanding, with close to 70% of all A Level grades at A* or A and every single pupil achieving a pass. It’s the range behind those figures. Some of our proudest stories weren’t the pupils with a run of A*s, remarkable as they were, but those who arrived with real challenges: a new language, a difficult start, low confidence, and left with results that opened doors none of us were sure would be open to them. That’s success at every level, and it’s what makes this group of pupils so special to us.
Grace Piana – Deputy Principal (Academic)
As we begin a new academic year, I am really excited to welcome back our pupils into their new year groups. Having been at the school since its inception, it is moving to see the growth in maturity, academic rigour and passion from our Year 10 cohort, who joined us as Year 7s four years ago. We hosted our annual Meet the Tutor event on Saturday and hearing stories about pupils’ summer breaks, where they discovered a passion for engineering, wrote a paper on stem cell research and participated in summer programs around the world reminded me of the real reason we do this; to inspire and nurture a love of learning.
