RSJ a catalyst for cultural and educational exchange

The executive head master of the Rugby School Group, Peter Green, spoke recently to Dr Helen Wright about strategic developments across the group and described Rugby School Japan as a catalyst for cultural and educational exchange.

The group includes Rugby School in the UK, Bilton Grange prep feeder school, and its international locations – Rugby School Thailand (RST) and of course, Rugby School Japan (RSJ) opening in autumn 2023.

In the interview, Mr Green talks about his role in devising a global strategy for the group and how the Thailand project was conceived in 2017.

He also emphasises how the new school in Japan will be far from “a badge above the door” – and will offer a very different, holistic model in comparison to other schools which have opened across Asia. RSJ is not a franchise, he notes.

Global Network

Rugby School leaders in the UK have been closely involved with establishing the new international schools. All students who graduate from RST and RSJ will be known as “Old Rugbeians”, and benefit from a global alumni network, said Mr Green.

He also mentioned the new Rugby School “enrichment campus” on the Japanese island of Hokkaido which will provide educational and co-curricular opportunities for students across the group and indeed the world.
