Sport, Recreation & Unique Experiences

Life at camp extended far beyond the classroom, with the sport programme, an excursion, and unique experiences that encouraged campers to stay active, try something new, and build lasting friendships.

Throughout the week, pupils took part in a range of team sports and activities, including basketball, badminton, and hip-hop dance. Led by experienced coaches and instructors, these sessions challenged campers to develop their skills while building teamwork, resilience, and confidence. They also enjoyed creative craft workshops, designing their own miniature sushi charms to take home as a reminder of their week at camp.

Campers also ventured beyond campus on an exciting excursion to the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo, where they explored iconic sets, costumes, and props from the beloved film series. The visit offered a memorable opportunity to experience one of Japan’s most popular attractions alongside new friends.

One of the week’s most memorable experiences came when a local falconry family business visited campus with a collection of magnificent birds of prey, including a variety of birds like the falcon, eagle, hawk, and owl. Campers not only met these incredible animals up close but also learned about the long history of falconry in Japan and its cultural significance.

For many participants, the Residential Summer Camp also offered their very first experience of boarding school life. From shared meals to life in the boarding houses, campers discovered the welcoming community, independence, and sense of belonging that make life at RSJ such a rewarding experience.
