This is why official accreditations and independent reviews are so important for schools like ours and for our parent community.
We are therefore thrilled to share with you feedback from our recent Council of British Independent Schools accreditation assessment and our Good Schools Guide review. Both are nonpartisan organisations with a reputation for conducting thorough and unbiased appraisals of schools around the world.

COBIS
In November 2024, Rugby School Japan successfully gained accreditation
and membership to the Council of British International Schools (COBIS).
COBIS schools must meet robust international standards, which are benchmarked against global best practices.
As a COBIS school, Rugby School Japan is now part of a global network of educators, who adhere to the highest levels of academic and pastoral provision. In addition to being granted COBIS membership, we were also awarded the prestigious “Beacon Status” for pupil welfare. This is a level of recognition issued only to schools who deliver exemplary levels of pupil
care. It is also an award which has been issued to just 2 schools in Japan (Rugby School Japan and our sister school, Phoenix House.)
As a Beacon Status school, Rugby School Japan sets the standard for other international schools in the area of Student Welfare. This is a true honour and reflects the dedication to excellence of all our staff. It is also an indication of the excellent level of care that every parent can expect when their child joins Rugby School Japan.
The Good Schools Guide
Each school featured in the Good Schools Guide is selected only on merit, based on thorough research, a lengthy school visit, plus rigorous
staff and parent interviews. This results in a “warts ‘n’ all” review which is impartial, straight-talking, and free from marketing hype.
