On Wednesday, 13th November, our Head of Chemistry, Chuke Dharmawardhane, made a much-anticipated announcement about the winner of our Inter-house Chemistry Competition.
The rules of the competition were as follows:
Participants were to take part in two rounds of competition. The first round being a written test and the second round being a practical test, which required them to solve a troubling conundrum…
“Some chemicals have been delivered to RSJ, and due to conditions in the box, the labels have fallen off the bottles. Your job is to identify the different chemicals inside.”
At the end of the competition, participants were awarded points based on:
Their ability to correctly identify substances inside the bottles
The quality of their observations
Communication and collaboration
Safe working
Correct use of equipment
But who was the winner?
After two gruelling rounds of competitive experimentation and scientific analysis, Sheriff House claimed victory by a narrow margin of just 10 points.
Congratulations to Sheriff House and to all our young chemists for your excellent detective work.
